ABOUT US
The Kabangwe Creative Initiative Association is a non-profit community-based organisation which is in Lusaka Zambia. The organization was established in June 2004 and registered in December the same year under the registrar of societies. It was later re-registered under the NGO Act in May 2014 to help improve the quality of life of Youths and Women.
The organization has been working closely with the Ministry of Health, particularly Lusaka District Health Office (LDHO) and Chibombo District Health Office (CDHO) for implementation of its activities at various health facilities. The organization is also an active member of the Lusaka District HIV/AIDS committee as well as Lusaka District adolescent technical working group. KCIA uses a three-pronged approach to implement its activities by engaging District officials/ Community leaders / parents, Health workers at facility level, and adolescents and young people through various activities.
These activities include meetings with District/community leaders (Religious, School, Traditional, Civic), Health worker meetings and Focus group discussions for adolescents & young people on SRH-HIV, Mental Health, GBV, TB & Malaria. On the other hand, Kabangwe Creative Initiative Association has together with the community outlined programs for adolescents, young people and women aimed at addressing effects of climate change, building Business Development Activities and linking them to economic empowerment programs. This is coupled with linking them to information and markets for various products.
Currently, KCIA has five full-time staff and one part-time staff. The team includes the Executive Director, Finance & Admin Officer, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer and IT and Program Officer. The data entry staff currently works on part-time basis. The four thematic areas include: Reduction of Disease burden, Increased Household income, Mitigation of Climate Change effects and strengthened organizational capacity and sustainability.
